How to interpret this page: Below are Nostradamus' 2006 Playoff Prophesies, made over 400 years ago. The latest point spread is provided with the favored team having the point differential in parenthesis directly to the right.

Based on The Author's extensive analysis of Nostradamus' cryptic prophecies, he has provided his interpretation.

Sunday, Jan. 14 (Note: All times listed are Eastern Standard Time)

Pittsburgh vs Denver(-3.5), 4:35 p.m.

The Prophecy of Nostradamus:

Citizens of the mountain weep,

while great kin revel in the rain.

Mercury decides this outcome,

the second stallion is slain.

It looks like Nostradamus is buying the Kool-Aid on the Steelers.

He sees the 15-1 2004 Steelers, not the 6th seeded 2005 Steelers.

Maybe he's got something, Denver needed many Patriots gifts to win.

Second stallion is obviously the fact that they beat the Colts and now the Broncos.

I think Mercury alludes to a quick and commanding lead by the Steelers.

"Great Kin" is cryptic, perhaps kin is his way of saying chin, as in Bill Cowher's jutting protruberance.

NOSTRADAMUS' PICK: Pittsburgh over Denver, 27-7

Carolina vs Seattle(-4), 6:30 p.m.

The Prophecy of Nostradamus:

The lion and raptor battle near the tower,

claws, talons, death.

The erne will fly to the forsaken city,

at the tournament's final breath

Verrrrry strange prophecy. Tower is possible the Seattle Space Needle. This looks like the game of the year. A hard fought battle (hence, death). I think Nostradamus would be looking for a price in Vegas to take the Seahawks straight up, but the Panthers with the points. Thus the erne (= sea eagle) will make the flight to the forsaken city (which either can be Philadelphia or most likely Detroit).

NOSTRADAMUS' PICK: Seattle beats Carolina, 31-30
